Medical Assistant Work
Many people desire to have a medical career. Why wouldn’t they? The baby boomers are getting older, so that means that one third of our population are having increasing health care needs. It is a multi-billion dollar industry, and no matter what the state of the economy is people will always need health care.
So, you want a health care job. You do not want to be a doctor, but you also do not want to be a medical secretary. Medical assisting is actually a job that falls somewhere I between.
The great thing about medical assistant work is that there is a huge variety of options out there. If you are more interested in the clinical side, then there are medical assistant jobs out there with duties including patient examinations, laboratory procedures, and even sometimes tasks such as performing x-rays. A medical assistant does not make as much money as a nurse does, so if you are interested in becoming a nurse, a physician’s assistant etc then medical assisting work is a fantastic way to get experience.
Some medical assistant jobs require more administrative duties. These may include coding, billing, and transcription. Medical billing, medical coding etc can be very lucrative work at home jobs. Working as a medical assistant in the right office could provide you with the medical billing training that you need.
It has been pointed out many times on this site that medical assistant work and salary varies depending on the industry you are in. This is great news because there is plenty of room to pursue different interests and room for advancement in the medical field.
So, if you have not yet gone to medical school but do not want to sit behind a desk and answer phones and type all day, then a medical assisting career may be just for you!
